AkerScout™ is a directed crop-scouting mobile and web application that helps farmers and agronomists identify, document, and prioritize crop damage from pests, diseases, and stress factors in fields using GPS-enabled scouting, comprehensive crop databases, mapping, and reporting — with advanced features unlocked when combined with high-resolution aerial imagery.

The solution enables detection and prioritization of issues via imagery and provides geolocation to support precise field scouting. The app is available for download on Answer Tech and is capable of detecting fertility issues for 92 different crops and cover crops. There are no limit as well in terms of user accounts, storage, and scouting observations recorded in the sytem.

The solution serves agronomists and medium to large-scale farmers. The development of the embedded app, AkerScout, resulted from consultations with users requesting to enter their own field boundaries and place orders for high-resolution in-season imagery. AkerScout has users for over 21 countries.

AkerScout operates on a freemium model. The base functionality is free, while premium features—such as high-resolution imagery—are subscription-based. The service is also offered via retail partnerships within WinField’s business ecosystem.
