BeeCare is a digital service designed to aid beekeepers in remotely managing and monitoring their hives. It offers real-time data on factors like temperature, weight, and humidity, optimizing hive conditions for enhanced honey production. This information is easily accessible through a dedicated mobile app. Additionally, BeeCare provides SMS Scale, a digital solution delivering hive weight, temperature, and humidity details via SMS to mobile phones. To prevent apiary theft, BeeCare offers a GPS tracking system, ensuring beekeepers can safeguard their hives effectively. BeeCare is part of a broader product suite (Honey Scout for AI-based flowering predictions, BeeConnect as a beekeeper marketplace, Book Your Honey for certified honey sales, and Bee Garden for apitherapy).
Technology
BeeCare employs over-the-air connectivity to collect and process data efficiently. Local gateways connected with Amnify SIM cards transmit information to a central cloud-based system. The system integrates temperature and humidity sensors, providing real-time insights into hive conditions, including humidity inside and outside the hives. A weight tracking system is used to measure hive weight regularly and to provide hive positioning. Data is accessible through a mobile app, and it includes a task management component for organizing beekeeping activities seamlessly. Notifications are delivered via SMS, email, mobile push, or chat entry. GPS technology to monitor hive location and activate an alert system is under development.
Target
The main users of the BeeCare solution are beekeepers, both individuals and potentially organized beekeeping operations. Hobby beekeepers are also common users. The hive scales are most commonly purchased by beekeepers managing more than 20 hives. Primary market is in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with sales also in Croatia, Serbia, Germany, Austria, and other EU countries.
Business model
The business model is based on the sales of the BeeCare system, that is currently priced at EUR 320. Special offers are available based on the number of hives to be served (i.e. Special offers for 10 hives). Taylor-made purchases are also possible as customers can add more scales or sensors to their initial package. It is also possible to purchase the honey, that is the result of the use of the BeeCare system. Users of BeeCare pay subscription EUR 15 for 6 months or EUR 30 for 12 months for data transmission. The price of premium packages are fixed on request.
