Description

Digital Valley Albania (DiVA) is a European Digital Innovation Hub project established to accelerate digital transformation among Albanian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with special emphasis on agriculture and tourism sectors. DiVA provides support for SMEs to adopt advanced digital technologies, improve operational capacities, access markets and innovation ecosystems, and contribute to Albania’s broader digital economy and rural development.

Digital Valley Albania offers a suite of services, which include technology testing and piloting, digital skills training, IT consultancy, business-intelligence & big-data tools deployment, and support for adoption of AI/decision-support systems, software platforms and cybersecurity solutions tailored to SMEs. Additionally, the project offers investment support, assisting farmers with funding opportunities, investment strategies, and financial planning for digital transformation. DiVA acts as a bridge between technology providers and agrifood and tourism SMEs to facilitate feasible digital adoption.

Digital Valley Albania operates as a grant-funded digital-innovation hub under the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) programme. The project aids financial support, providing access to EUR 20 000 through various sources such as municipality funds, and private investors.

Impact

Digital Valley Albania aims to bridge the digital gap among Albanian SMEs, notably in agriculture and tourism, thereby strengthening their competitiveness, productivity, and ability to integrate into modern value chains. According to the website, participating SMEs typically achieve 20 percent improvement in digital maturity and operational efficiency, and the same amount of percentage increase in enhanced cybersecuirty practices, and better environmental and social responsibility scores. Similarly, a reported 15 percent reduction in energy cost through digitalization was reported.
