Demonstrating Value of agrI data sharINg for boostiNg data Economy in agriculture
Description
DIVINE is a Horizon Europe research and innovation project that aims to demonstrate the cost–benefit and added value of agricultural data sharing. The project develops an agricultural data space ecosystem to support interoperability, data governance, and data sharing across the agri-food sector. It validates data-sharing approaches through four pilot cases covering different agricultural production systems across multiple EU countries, providing evidence to support policy makers, technology providers and other stakeholders involved in the agricultural data economy.
Technology
The project develops an ecosystem to aggregate private and public agricultural data by interconnecting existing agri data spaces and improving interoperability across data spaces, Farm Management Information Systems (FMIS) and Agricultural Knowledge Information Systems (AKIS). It also includes facilities to improve transparency, trust and sovereignty in data sharing, alongside cost-benefit assessment and decision-support functionalities.
Target
The project targets stakeholders involved in generating, managing and using agricultural data, including farmers, technology providers and policy makers, with an emphasis on enabling data sharing across the agriculture sector.
Business model
DIVINE is financed under the European Union’s Horizon Europe Research & Innovation Action (grant No 101060884), with consortium-led pilot deployments and platform development funded by public research grants.
Impact
DIVINE pilots cover four agricultural production systems across multiple EU countries and demonstrate data-sharing approaches to support data-driven analysis and decision-making. The project aims to develop and validate analytical and benchmarking methods and support improved transparency and assessment of environmental performance through interoperable agricultural data. With a total project budget of EUR 3 954 797.50, DIVINE delivers reusable assets including the Agricultural Data Space Ecosystem (ADSE), the AIM+ semantic model, and IDS-compliant connectors.
