AfiCollar is a smart neck collar designed for monitoring individual cows and groups. The smart collar provides information for accurate heat detection, rumination and eating time, health of individual cows, and group digestion. The collar’s main benefits are the heat detection feature which monitors herd’s pregnancy rate, and the accurate monitoring of rumination and eating patterns. Through the collar, farmers receive health alerts about the overall animal behaviour and wellbeing.
Technology
The collar operates 24/7 and is wireless. The collar uses 3D accelerometer to effectively monitor motion patterns and the neck collar’s electrical design ensures long life span with easy set-up through the farm Wi-Fi. The data collected by AfiCollar is transmitted to AfiFarm, a software that visually analyzes and presents updated information for individual cows and groups, and Afi2Go Prime, a mobile application that retrieves health status and searches for an animal by typing her number or swiping the farmer’s mobile app over the AfiCollar sensor. The smart collar also works together with MPC Milk Meters, AfiAcr II, and AfiLab that are all developed by the same company.
