Description
FP067 is a Green Climate Fund–financed project implemented by the World Food Programme to strengthen the adaptive capacity of vulnerable and food insecure communities in mountainous regions of Tajikistan through capacity building, climate information services, and livelihood diversification. The project supports sustainable agriculture, food security, and rural livelihoods by integrating climate-smart practices and technologies for improved productivity and risk management.

The project applies digital and geospatial tools, including climate information systems, GIS and remote sensing, to support agricultural planning, climate risk management and decision-making. These tools are used alongside capacity-building activities to improve access to climate and agricultural information at community and institutional levels.

The initiative targets vulnerable and food insecure rural communities, with a strong focus on smallholder farmers in the Rasht Valley, Khatlon region and Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region. The project reports approximately 120 000 beneficiaries, including around 50 000 direct beneficiaries and 70 000 indirect beneficiaries.

The project is financed through grant-based donor support from the Green Climate Fund, with additional co-financing contributions. It does not operate on a commercial basis and delivers services and infrastructure through public sector and development partnerships.
Impact
The project aims to build adaptive capacity of vulnerable rural communities exposed to increasing climate variability, droughts, and floods. With a total project value of USD 10.0 million, including approximately USD 9.27 million in Green Climate Fund financing, the initiative supports climate-resilient agricultural production, improved water management, and diversified livelihoods. Reported outcomes include strengthened access to climate information, improved agricultural practices and enhanced resilience of food systems in targeted mountainous regions of Tajikistan.
