Business portal of Tajikistan and Central Asia

Portal for the identification of international partners and investment projects

DescriptionOverview of the initiative and its approach.

The Business Portal of Tajikistan and Central Asia (B2B) is an information app run by the State Unitary Enterprise "Tajinvest" under the State Committee on Investment and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan aimed at supporting the establishment of international business partnerships through the creation of a directory of potential business partners in different countries. The app also serves as a communication app for the identification of potential partners, and for the dissemination of information on financial and economic statistics, regulations, open projects and investment opportunities. The Portal was launched as a part of the 2019 Action Plan "300 Days of Reforms to Support Entrepreneurship and Improve Investment Climate", and was developed with the support of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

  • Desktop/web-based application

B2B is an online application containing a directory of international business partners and investment-related information. The app can be accessed via a computer or mobile phone browser. General information on companies and investments is available without registration, while promoting a user's business and connecting with business partners require registration. The app provides both communication and information services. The "Companies" tab serves as a directory of international businesses, with the ability to filter searches by category and country, or by company name. Each company page contains relevant contact information and a brief description of their operations. The "Investment Projects" tab lists seven sectors, and selecting a sector displays the relevant statistics and investment advice, with the possibility to view a “résumé” of current investment projects. An “Investment projects map” based on Google Maps can also be accessed with the ability to filter by sector, project cost and language. The “Business Guide” tab includes information on legislation in Tajikistan, government structure, etc. Finally, the portal’s “News” and “Articles” tabs can be used to access publications on recent events and updates. The portal collects user feedback that contributes to the continuous improvement of the app.

  • Freemium

A fee is charged for registering a company in the “Supplier Search Engine”. Registrations are renewed every 12 months and can be terminated by giving 3 months’ notice.

ImpactThe observed or intended effects of the initiative.

The B2B portal can stimulate entrepreneurship, and increase exports and the flow of foreign investments into Tajikistan by allowing users to connect with potential international business partners, and by sharing information on financial opportunities and investment projects. By enabling entrepreneurs, producers, and farmers to register in the “Supplier Search Engine”, the app can stimulate the distribution of Tajik products internationally, thus supporting food security while at the same time providing economic support to Tajik farmers, producers and business owners. Furthermore, allowing Tajik business owners to connect with international partners supports Tajik farmers and producers in the establishment of partnerships, contributing to improvements in production practices through exchanges of knowledge, products and services. Finally, the advisory and statistical information provided on the app creates more equity in the Tajik business space through the open access provided to business guides, and insights into investment opportunities, sources and projects. This information can also be used for economic planning and the development of policies that support farmers and producers.
