Digital Agriculture Market (DITAP)
Online marketplace for connecting Turkish farmers with buyers along the agri-food chain
Description
Digital Agriculture Market (DİTAP) is a national digital marketplace connecting agricultural producers with buyers through contract farming and direct online sales. The platform covers plant, animal and fisheries products and follows the chain from seed to fork. Producers can sell their products at fair prices, and consumers and agri-food industries can access quality products more reliably.
Technology
DİTAP is an online agriculture marketplace integrated with Türkiye’s e-Government (e-Devlet) portal, where users access the platform after authenticating with national digital identity methods. The surface allows users to create profiles, list agricultural products, publish purchase requests, and negotiate contract farming agreements. DİTAP also provides functions for matching supply and demand, viewing market prices, managing orders, and arranging logistics and online payments.
Target
DİTAP targets smallholder farmers, medium and large agricultural enterprises and cooperatives that want to market crops, livestock and fisheries products more efficiently, as well as private-sector buyers such as wholesalers, processors, retailers, exporters and logistics companies.
Business model
DİTAP has been established and is operated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry as a state-supported digital service, in cooperation with the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the Ministry of Trade and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye. The marketplace offers commission-free participation for registered producers and buyers, without paying transaction fees, while operational costs are covered through public budgets as part of national digital agriculture and food security policies.
Impact
DİTAP intends to help farmers obtain better prices and more predictable demand, reduce dependence on intermediaries, and strengthen bargaining power. The digital space can reduce food loss and waste through better planning of production and logistics. Public statements from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in 2020 reported that the marketplace had already facilitated around TRY 150 million in transaction volume and attracted over 100 000 registered buyers and sellers.
