Description
iAgro is a mobile app developed by Agrobit that transforms smartphone into a 3D scanner for precision farming. The solution leverages AI, augemented reality, computer vision, 3D modeling and cloud computing. The app takes biometric and biophysical data of tree crops, and exports reports, maps and history of vegetation health and status. Additionally, iAgro can facilitate a complete 3D scan on the target plant to get its 3D model acting as a digital twin. Through this process, the app captures biometric parameters such as thickness, height, and canopy volume, and vigor parameters like leaf area index, and tree row volume. iAgro also provides users with recommendations on optimal doses of agrochemical application and water.
Technology
By scanning a minimum of five points per field, users can generate vigor maps that can assist them in optimizing fertilization, and water and fruit harvest. The data generated from the vegetation scanning is available for download in excel format where the GPS coordinates are supplemented with other crop information such as height, leaf area index, and volume among others. Users can also manage their plots in a specific way, for instance, settings may include anticipating threats based on yield and quality, and saving chemical inputs and concentrating resources only when needed the most. The app also creates zone precipitation maps based on the needs of the crops in each phenological phase, informing farmers on the right amount of water and pesticide application needed for their land. iAgro is available for Android and iOS devices.
Target
The target users of the technology are farmers, especially small businesses, agrotechnicians, cooperatives, agronomic consultancy companies, banks and insurances, and public bodies. The app has over 500 downloads in Android app-providing stores.
Business model
The annual subscription prices are 90€ for iAgro Basic subscription that best suits small businesses, 190€ for small-medium sized individual farms, 390€ for professionals and consultants, and 790€ for enterprise, medium-large consortia or cooperatives. As of June 2025, iAgro has over 500 downloads on Android app servicing websites.
Impact
The app aims to reduce the use of chemical inputs and water up to 50 percent to lower the environmental impacts on air, aquifers, soil, and on rural communities, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and improve resource management, among others.
