Revalcon
IoT-enabled smart irrigation system for sustainable water management in agriculture
Description
Revalcon is a smart-irrigation solution provider offering end-to-end hardware and software for efficient water management in agriculture. Revalcon’s system enables farmers to automate irrigation based on real-time soil, weather and sensor data, reducing water and energy use, optimizing crop water supply, and facilitating resource-efficient farm management. The solution addresses challenges in water scarcity, labor costs, and inefficient irrigation practices, thereby promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development.
Technology
Revalcon combines LoRa-based IoT hardware (soil moisture/NPK sensors, temperature & humidity sensors, remote valve controllers, gateways) with solar-powered nodes enabling remote operation. Field sensors collect soil and environmental data, pump/valve status and send it to a central gateway, which relays via network to a cloud or local server. A web-based and mobile application via SMS or email alerts) allows monitoring, scheduling and remote control of irrigation, including automated valve actuation and scheduled irrigation according to real-time data or user-defined parameters. Additionally, the system includes the Sirius BSS1‑LR wireless gateway, a stationary low‑power transceiver developed by Revalcon that operates on LoRa technology at 433 MHz to enable reliable long‑range data communication across farm environments.
Target
Revalcon targets smallholder and medium-sized farms, cooperatives and agribusiness operators seeking to improve irrigation efficiency and resource use. Users include orchard owners, farms in challenging terrain, and agricultural enterprises in Armenia, Russia and surrounding regions.
Business model
Revalcon offers its system as a subscription or service model where clients pay for installation, hardware gateway
Impact
Revalcon’s system aims to achieve significant water-use reduction and decrease in crop disease incidence compared to traditional irrigation systems.
