Tarla.io

Farm intelligence and climate risk platform

DescriptionOverview of the initiative and its approach.

Tarla.io is a digital decision‑support platform that integrates satellite indices, severe‑weather detection, rainfall radar, soil sensors and climate data to deliver field‑level insights and alerts for farm operations, risk management and productivity gains in agriculture. The solution is relevant to food security and rural development through climate‑resilient production and access to farm intelligence.

TechnologyTechnology used by the initiative.

  • Big data
  • Blockchain
  • Cloud
  • Desktop/web-based application
  • GIS
  • GPS
  • Internet of things (IoT)
  • Artificial intelligence (AI)
  • Mobile app
  • Remote sensing
  • Sensor

Tarla.io is a cloud‑based web and mobile application that processes optical/microwave satellite imagery (e.g. NDVI), live lightning and severe‑weather sensor feeds, precipitation radar, forecasts and historical meteorological data to generate hyper‑local advisories, notifications and parametric‑insurance triggers. Users access dashboards, customized alerts and APIs; supported IoT climate stations (WeatherXM) provide microclimate data and blockchain‑enabled rewards.

TargetUsers, groups, or communities targeted by the initiative.

  • Academia and research institutions
  • Agriculture cooperatives
  • Farm advisors
  • Large size farms
  • Medium size farms
  • Smallholder farmers
  • Private sector
  • Public sector

Tarla.io is designed for farmers, including smallholders and commercial farms, cooperatives, farm advisors and agribusiness users seeking to digitize farm operations and improve visibility of field-level activities.

Business modelHow the initiative delivers and sustains its value.

  • Fee for service
  • Subscription

Tarla.io is offered via subscription plans for individual farmers and fee‑for‑service arrangements for enterprise customers (e.g. access to APIs, risk assessments and parametric insurance integrations), with pricing tiers indicated on the platform’s Pricing area.

ImpactThe observed or intended effects of the initiative.

Tarla.io is enabling climate‑risk mitigation and operational efficiency through early‑warning alerts, disease probability notifications and satellite‑based crop‑health monitoring; publicly available sources highlight servicing of more than 50 000 farmers and monitoring of 450 000 farms, alongside adoption by multiple institutions, supporting improved decision‑making for irrigation, spraying, harvesting and financial resilience under volatile weather.
