DescriptionOverview of the initiative and its approach.
Wiejska is a web-based aggregator platform that connects local farmers and food producers in Poland directly with consumers through online ordering and coordinated weekly deliveries. The initiative serves small-scale producers seeking alternative routes to market and consumers interested in purchasing fresh, locally sourced food. Farmers cooperate to pool and organize deliveries.
TechnologyTechnology used by the initiative.
Wiejska operates through a web-based marketplace platform accessible via desktop and mobile browsers, enabling consumers to browse products, place orders and complete payments online. The user-facing website is connected to a central backend system that manages producer profiles, product listings, pricing, orders and payment processing. Farmers update product availability and prices through online interfaces linked to the backend database. The platform supports weekly order aggregation and coordination of producer-led deliveries through its backend management system.
TargetUsers, groups, or communities targeted by the initiative.
The main users of the Wiejska are farmers and consumers. As of January 2026, the platform aggregates products from 22 farmers in total.
Business modelHow the initiative delivers and sustains its value.
The platform is free to use by consumers. Customers cover the cost of the delivery to the doorstep. The marketplace was implemented under Polish Rural Development Programme (PROW) 2014–2020, and co-financed by the European Union under the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
ImpactThe observed or intended effects of the initiative.
Wiejska aims to strengthen short food supply chains in Poland by enabling consumers to purchase fresh, locally produced food directly from nearby farmers through an online ordering system with coordinated weekly deliveries. The marketplace platform aims to improve supply chain transparency by providing information on product origin and producers, support local food consumption, and reduce the number of intermediaries between farmers and consumers. For farmers, it aims to offer an alternative route to market that can increase market visibility, retain a larger share of the final price and reduce dependence on conventional wholesale channels.
