Digital innovation for rural farming
Description
AGRI-DIGITAL GROWTH is a transnational project promoting the uptake of digital and precision farming technologies in rural and less developed areas. The project seeks to: Develop a Precision Farming Knowledge Transfer Ecosystem to support digitalisation, sustainability, and specialisation of agri-food manufacturing SMEs. 2) Enhance digital skills among traditional SMEs in the agricultural machinery sector, particularly in peripheral areas lacking digital competencies. 3) Establish a formal qualification framework for Precision Farming Specialists to provide technical assistance to farmers adopting precision technologies. 4) Implement transnational pilot courses and living labs to facilitate hands-on learning and peer-to-peer knowledge exchange.
Technology
The Agri-Digital Growth project centers on advancing precision agriculture - IoT devices, such as soil moisture sensors and weather stations, that enable real-time monitoring of environmental conditions, facilitating data-driven decision-making in farming operations.
Target
AGRI-DIGITAL GROWTH targets smallholder and medium-size farmers, rural communities, public sector actors, and research institutions. The project focuses on capacity building and support for technology adoption in digital agriculture across Central Europe, though the exact number of beneficiaries is not specified.
Business model
The initiative is funded by the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme under the European Regional Development Fund. Participation in project activities, tools, and resources is free of charge to beneficiaries.
Impact
