Interactive tool for monitoring agricultural sustainability

Description

Agri Sustainability Compass is an interactive tool showing 20 key indicators for the three sustainability pillars in agriculture: 1) Economic performance, 2) Social performance, 3) Environmental and climate performance. The tool provides a detailed definition of each indicator with accompanying statistics and insights. The initiative enables users to have a better understanding of the economic, social, environmental and climate status and performance of each Member State. A unique feature the tool offers is the quick assessment of the trend in each indicator using three categories, namely evolution in the desired, neutral or mixed, and undesired direction. The site is managed by the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development.

The tool demonstrates the three sustainability pillars of agriculture in a dynamic and interactive way. Users can browse data by clicking on the indicators leading to a more robust discussion of each parameter accompanied by statistical graphs. Moreover, several downloadable data formats such as image, PDF and CSV files are also available should users wish to examine the data offline and in-depth while dashboards are being updated regularly. Another notable feature of the tool is a clickable link that leads visitors to the Member State’s historical sustainability performance. Depending on the indicator, users can browse through the development and performance trends of each Member State for the last three decades.
