Description

AgroInform.Tj is a web-based agriculture information service that carries agricultural sector news, analytics and reports on topics such as the implementation of land reforms in Tajikistan, best practices in agriculture, information on crop production, livestock and poultry management, pest and disease control, green agriculture and the COTLOOK Cotton Index. The portal also carries advertisements supporting the purchase and sale of agricultural products and agro-inputs; information on available credits and the lending conditions of leading financial institutions; prices of more than 50 agricultural products in the main country and border markets, etc. The website also offers services related to soil analysis, weather notifications and the procurement of agricultural goods. Finally, the website also hosts informational and training videos on crop management. AgroInform.Tj is part of the Agro Space website – a web-based website developed jointly by AgroInformAsia, Kyrgyzstan and AgroInform.TJ in Tajikistan as a hub for the hosting of various digital products developed for farmers.

AgroInform.Tj is an open and free website that can be accessed via a browser on a mobile device or computer, and AgroInform.Asia publishes a complementary paper-based newspaper. Navigation of the website is via tabs listing the different services, including News, Prices, Market, Maps, Manual  section, Other services and Videos. The News tab provides updates on agricultural projects, stories, and analytics; the Prices tab allows users to see market prices or production support and input prices; the Market website directs users to the e-Trade e-commerce website; the map allows users to select agricultural production and services by location; and the Manual tab redirects users to the online plant protection website; the Other Services tab provides access to SMS notifications, the newspaper, advertising, soil analyses and agricultural products; and the Videos tab provides access to video tutorials on various agriculture-related topics.

AgroInform.Tj is an information service aimed at supporting farmers, processors, wholesalers and agricultural input suppliers, as well as anyone else with an interest in the agricultural sector. It is available in the Tajik, Russian and English languages.

AgroInform.Tj was initiated within the framework of the “Local Market Development” project of the Swiss Association for International Cooperation (Helvetas), with additional technical and financial support received from the Interchurch Organisation for Development Cooperation (ICCO), the Netherlands, the “Aid for Trade” project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Government of Finland, the Ministry of Agriculture of Tajikistan, the Central Agricultural Department of the Sugd region, the German Development Service (DED), OJSC “Sugdagroserv”, the European Commission's SENAS project and the public organization “Rushdi Dehot” (Rural Development), as well as other partners. The consortium earns through the sale of advertising on the website, the mobile apps and the paper-based newspaper that are part of the AgroSpace website. Advertisements on AgroInform.Asia cost USD 32–94/month, depending on the size of the ad.

Impact

The mission of AgroInform.Tj is to stimulate the agricultural market in Tajikistan by establishing business connections and providing accurate and detailed information in support of agribusinesses. For users that have no access to the Internet, AgroInform.Asia offers also a paper-based newspaper.
