AGROMARKETKS was developed under the “Community Development to Improve Welfare and Build Confidence” project with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Technology
The AGROMARKETKS e-commerce for agricultural and livestock sellers and farmers is available online. Users must first register as a buyer or seller and list the products they wish to sell/purchase. Producers and farmers can add products for free to the system and utilize the chat feature to communicate with customers and make deals and appointments. Customers can search for specific products using the category search or the map, can contact producers via the chat feature, make deals, etc. Each listed product is usually presented with information on the type of product, the available quantity, the packaging, the location and the price. The e-commerce does not facilitate payments for products.
Target
The e-commerce is available in the Serbian and Albanian languages.
Business model
The e-commerce is open and free to use for farmers and buyers.
Impact
The e-commerce was created with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in response to the detrimental effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on farmers’ livelihoods. The AGROMARKETKS e-commerce e-commerce can increase the access of farmers to new markets and increase transparency in the value chain. By bypassing several intermediaries, farmers can increase their income, reduce waste and deliver fresher produce to their customers.
