CROPIO

Precision farming application based on remote sensing

Description

CROPIO is a digital app that can be accessed via a desktop or mobile app that makes use of high-resolution satellite images in support of real-time agricultural management, helping farmers predict average yields and improve agricultural productivity. The system identifies such key parameters as nutrient deficiencies, soil compaction, lack of water, crop estimation, insect damage, scorching caused by herbicides and weed pressure, allowing timely interventions.

Technology

  • Mobile app
  • Desktop/web-based application
  • Remote sensing

CROPIO is both a desktop and mobile phone application that supports precision farming. The mobile application runs on both Android and iOS devices, and uses satellite imagery to check the condition of fields in real time. CROPIO provides a comprehensive view of field conditions. The app’s proprietary system processes satellite images tailored to the user's fields, simplifying the detection and management of problems. CROPIO also makes use of weather and soil data to predict average yields and to provide actionable advice to farmers in support of their field management.

Target

  • Smallholder farmers
  • Medium size farms
  • Large size farms

The main users of CROPIO are farmers with operations of all sizes. The app is only available in Hungarian.

Business model

  • Subscription
  • Fee for service

CROPIO offers a 1-month free trial. A yearly subscription to the app and its modules costs HUF 650 (approx. USD 1.87) + VAT per hectare. Farmers can gain access to the free trial by filling out a form on CROPIO’s website.

Impact

CROPIO can potentially reduce uncertainties in agricultural planning by accurately identifying crop issues. The app aims to bridge the data gap in the agriculture sector by transforming satellite imaging data into actionable insights.
