Description
DJI Mavic 2.0 is a drone used in agriculture for crop scouting, mapping, and precision input application. The drone applies multispectral imaging, mission planning through DJI Terra, and agricultural drones to collect field data, and the execution of variable-rate spraying and spreading. These functionalities address key farm issues such as fragmented field scouting, limited timely information, and low input-use efficiency in crop protection and fertilization.
Technology
The technology combines agricultural spray and spreads platforms through the Agras T‑series and multispectral or RGB inspection drones with RTK positioning and mission planning to generate NDVI and other indices, tree counts, automated routes, and variable-rate prescription maps. Meanwhile, the execution is supported by DJI Terra for image reconstruction needs and the DJI SmartFarm mobile and web-based applications for field management and data integration.
Target
The initiative targets medium, and large farms and agriculture cooperatives seeking data‑driven crop protection and input optimization. DJI Mavic 2 can also be used by academic and research institutions.
Business model
The solution follows a mixed model: hardware aircraft and payloads are acquired as a one-time purchase while DJI Terra software is available through subscriptions and permanent license types. Users can also request for online repair and maintenance as a fee‑for‑service modality.
Impact
The integration solutions offered by DJI Mavic 2 and DJI Terra aim to improve crop yields while reducing costs while at the same time making mapping of large scale landscape and scenarios possible.
