InnoPod

Network of wireless sensors offering insights into soil and weather parameters

Description

InnoPod is a set of wireless sensors that supports farmers in the optimization of water usage, fertilization and soil management through the provision of real-time data. The system uses wireless sensors to monitor critical soil and environmental parameters, including moisture, nutrients, temperature, etc. Actionable recommendations and alerts are made to farmers via a mobile application, allowing them to take timely interventions.

Technology

  • Artificial intelligence (AI)
  • Cloud
  • Desktop/web-based application
  • Instant messaging
  • Internet of things (IoT)
  • Mobile app
  • Sensor

InnoPod is a network of wireless sensors designed to measure key soil and environmental parameters, including moisture, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, salinity, total dissolved solids, air temperature and humidity. The data collected by the sensors are transmitted to a cloud-based infrastructure where they undergo real-time analysis and aggregation. InnoPod’s software processes the data using advanced algorithms to generate actionable insights and tailored recommendations that can be accessed via a mobile application. Upon detecting a critical condition, the system automatically notifies farmers of any necessary actions. The solution is powered by a self-sustaining energy system that utilizes photovoltaic panels to generate electricity. Battery storage ensures the continuous operation of the system even in off-grid locations or during periods of low sunlight. Users can also obtain advice from InnoPod’s experts via a chatbox.

Target

  • Agriculture cooperatives
  • Farm advisors
  • Large size farms
  • Medium size farms

The primary users of the solution are medium- and large-scale farms and agricultural cooperatives looking to optimize their water usage and fertilization.

Impact

InnoPod helps farmers optimize their water and fertilizer usage while managing soil health by delivering actionable recommendations based on real-time soil and air data. The system reduces input waste, lowers farming costs and ensures crops receive the precise amounts of water and nutrients required for optimal growth, while also supporting long-term soil health and encouraging the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.
