Sistem tržišnih informacija poljoprivrede Srbije (STIPS)
Web-based local market prices information system
Description
STIPS is a web-based market information service system providing weekly and monthly local prices for fruits, vegetables, livestock, grains, inputs and selected dairy categories across Serbian markets to support transparent trading, farm planning and food security decisions.
Technology
STIPS is a web portal and database generating national and detailed PDF/HTML reports and charts from structured price observations collected in 21 city centers by trained reporters; users query via web forms by product, market and time interval, with outputs viewable online.
Target
The system serves farmers, traders, agribusinesses, analysts and public authorities who require up-to-date and historical market price information for agricultural products to support production planning, market participation and policy analysis.
Business model
STIPS is publicly funded and operated by the national government. All data and reports are provided free of charge to users through the online portal.
Impact
STIPS aims to improve agricultural market transparency in Serbia through the regular collection and publication of price and market data. The system has operated continuously since the early 2000s and produces weekly and monthly market bulletins, detailed reports, and searchable online databases by product and location. Information is disseminated through the STIPS web portal and other communication channels. Data collection relies on a national network of market reporting centers staffed by trained reporters, supporting the regular publication of price bulletins and analytical reports.
