TMS Treescout

Tractor-mounted sensor for precision orchard management

Description

TMS TreeScout is an AI-supported tractor‑mounted sensor-based system that scans individual trees in an orchard to generate tailored prescription maps, empowering fruit growers to reduce inputs, increase yields, and optimize precision orchard management. With each pass the solution assesses bloom density, vigor, and tree variability, then prescription maps guide users to make precision fertilization, pruning, thinning or spraying actions tailored to each tree. It addresses labor shortages, input inefficiencies, and yield variability, enhancing precision tree-level management.

  • Sensor

TMS TreeScout integrates a high-resolution 3D computer vision camera system with NVIDIA Jetson edge computing hardware mounted on tractors. It interfaces with RTK‑GPS and ISOBUS systems to geo-tag trees. Processed images and AI-generated analytics produce prescription maps that link to sprayers, pruners, or fertilizer spreaders. Data is uploaded to a cloud platform for visualization and download of treatment maps.

Target

  • Agriculture cooperatives
  • Farm advisors
  • Large size farms
  • Medium size farms

Designed for orchard producers (particularly apple and pear growers) and consultants across Europe and global markets like New Zealand and South Africa.

Business model

  • One time purchase
  • Subscription

Aurea Imaging offers TMS TreeScout as a hardware sensor package sold up-front, bundled with a multi-year software licence (typically 3 years) for analytics and prescription map generation. Additional agronomic support is supplied via local partners such as Agrovista. Revenue streams include hardware sales, recurring licence fees, and optional consultancy agreements

Impact

The solution aims to improve orchard productivity, sustainability, and profitability by enabling per-tree management based on real-time sensor data. By providing precise prescription maps for fertilization, pruning, thinning, and spraying, it can support more efficient input use, reduce agrochemical application, and enhance canopy uniformity. As per July 2025, the company reported that trials in European orchards have shown up to 90% reduction in agrochemical use and EUR 3,100–3,500 per hectare increase in crop value.
