Description
Agri-food Data Portal is a platform that houses data on several aspects of agriculture and common agricultural policy (CAP) at the national and European level. Users can access data and statistics on agri-food markets, CAP indicators, economic reports on EU farming, and a discovery hub to Member State’s geoportals for Integrated Administration and Control System which utilizes spatial data and interactive maps. Similarly, visitors can explore information on the financial dimension of CAP, factsheets providing an overview of the agricultural sector and rural development, and datasets for alert system, monitoring, and qualitative assessment of food supply and security at EU and country levels. The portal is managed by the European Commission’s Agricultural and Rural Development launched in 2021.
Technology
The web-based application allows users to perform several tasks to obtain information. As of June 2025, users immediately see on the portal’s landing page the Agri Sustainability Compass which shows 20 key indicators for the three dimensions of sustainability in agriculture and rural areas, highlights on the impact of war in Ukraine on selected agricultural products like cereals, the price of oilseeds and milling wheats, and lastly, the structural data showing EU-level graphs and tables on farm structures and income based on the 2020 EUROSTAT Census. Through the Agri-food market section, users can also browse information thematically such as data on imports, exports, prices, production, and aid schemes. The CAP indicators section, on the other hand, directs users to several dashboards enabling them to explore the performance of Member States in their CAP 2023-27 implementation based on Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Framework. In the same section, visitors can browse the catalogue of CAP strategic plans, detailed financial allocation of interventions, and information on outputs that each Member States intend to support.

The initiative is beneficial for policy makers and CAP administrators, particularly those who are interested in assessing their CAP implementation activities and comparing their performance with other Member States. Similarly, researchers and academia can access high quality historical and current datasets on the agricultural market, farm economics, trade, and food security. All types of farmers, agricultural advisors and producers can also gain knowledge of market information such as imports, exports and price signals.

Agri-food Data Portal is completely free. The portal is co-funded by the European Union and its Member States.

Based on the information published on the portal, the CAP indicators section helps assess the performance of Member States, enabling them to improve their CAP implementation and efficiency.
