Apiloger
Digital scale for monitoring the weight, temperature, and relative humidity of apiaries
Description
Apiloger is a digital beekeeping scale designed to measure the daily intake of nectar, air temperature, and humidity of beehives. It captures these parameters five times a day and subsequently sends an SMS message to the beekeeper in the evening, providing a summary of the collected data.
Technology
Apiloger is a scale equipped with sensors to measure weight, temperature, and relative humidity. Measurements are performed 5 times a day. The gathered data, particularly information about daily intake of honey, temperature, humidity, the strength of GSM signal and the battery voltage, is transmitted via SMS to designated mobile numbers. It is compact (Dimensions 46,5 x 39,0 x 5,0 cm) and lightweighted (5 kg). It has the possibility to be installed into the standard LR apiary floor, it operates autonomously with one battery charge up to 90 days and it includes a wireless alarm. Furthermore, the solution is built based on Open Hardware principles.
Target
The primary users of Apiloger are farmers seeking to gather comprehensive data to enhance the management of bee colonies. Smallholder farmers can leverage this solution to monitor both the production and well-being of their apiaries, thereby making more informed and effective decisions. Its user-friendliness makes it accessible for outdoor adoption by smallholder farmers, even those less inclined towards the use of technology.
Business model
Users can purchase the scale for a price of EUR 375. The scale can be purchased online via this platform: www.pcelarska-oprema.hr/proizvodi/pcelarska-digitalna-vaga/
Impact
Apiloger provides vital information to beekeepers on key parameters, such as daily intake of honey, temperature, humidity, that are essential for effective apiary management, contributing to informed decision-making.
