Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE)
Trading and auction platform for agricultural products
Description
The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange is a trading and auction platform that ensures the implementation of market pricing principles and equal access to commodities for all market stakeholders. Agricultural products are one of the four major categories that BUCE focuses on, providing an organized wholesale market and facilitating the movement of goods. These agricultural products include milk and whey powder, industrial casein, dairy butter, cottage cheese, rennet cheeses, meat, flour, rawhides, oilcakes, vegetable oils and seeds. BUCE also offers information and analysis services where subscribers can gain access to the most up-to-date and accurate information on the commodity exchange market of the Republic of Belarus.
Technology
The initiative is available as a desktop application. BUCE uses industrial and consumer goods (ICG) trading platforms to facilitate exchange and auctions. Through the electronic document technology, one can participate in any part of the whole and place bids and offers in English and Russian languages. Users can check the schedule of trading sessions of agricultural products where bids and offers can be sent through AgriBidLoader software. Visitors can also browse or download the historical trend of prices of agricultural products. Chatbots are also available on the platform to assist users.
Target
BUCE usage in goods exchange is beneficial for food producers who wish to trade their products. Academic and research institutions can also analyze the market price evolution over time. Medium and large size farms can enlist their agricultural products, providing access to companies, buyers, and agriculture organizations like cooperatives and farm advisors.
Business model
BUCE does not make any payment for the service. All participants of exchange auctions can use BUCE’s subaccount which enables them to claim payment for the shipped goods after the buyer confirms the acceptance. Such a process reduces the non-payment and non-delivery risks to a minimum. Goods are then delivered through exchange warehouses, exchange carriers, and exchange experts.
Impact
As of July 2025, there are about 3 000 commodities listed on the platform. BUCE aims to develop online commodity trading sector, strengthen the economic potential of the Republic of Belarus, and promote the integration of regional and global commodity markets.
