DescriptionOverview of the initiative and its approach.

Bio Hub Bazar Online was an interactive shopping and e-commerce for the marketing of high-quality products produced locally in Tomaszyn Smart Village in Poland. Consumers could create shopping lists and buy organic vegetables, fruit, meat, cheese, fish, bread and honey from the e-shop, as well as other items produced by Ostoja Natury and other local producers.

TechnologyTechnology used by the initiative.

  • E-commerce/online marketplace

On the Bio Hub Bazar Online marketplace, customers could prepare e-shopping lists and place orders on the e-commerce website, and pay online via bank transfer or Przelewy24 – an online contactless bank transaction solution in Poland that allows payment transactions to be made via the Internet.

TargetUsers, groups, or communities targeted by the initiative.

  • Food consumers
  • Rural communities

The primary users of the e-commerce were food consumer residents of Tomaszyn Smart Village or in the surrounding areas who were able to pick up their orders from specific locations, as well as all consumers located across Poland who could take delivery of their orders at their location.

Business modelHow the initiative delivers and sustains its value.

  • Fully free

Consumers were not charged for placing orders via the online marketplace, but had to pay the shipping fee if they opt for delivery to their address rather than making a local pick-up.

ImpactThe observed or intended effects of the initiative.

Bio Hub Bazar is no longer active, but the online marketplace's goal was to popularize the short food supply chain, including the processing and marketing of agricultural products, by cutting out all intermediaries.
