Developed with the technical assistance of FAO, Armenia's national strategy for digital agriculture for the period 2021–2030 is geared towards ensuring sustainable agricultural development and rural livelihoods through the targeted use of modern digital technologies. This vision is underpinned by strategic priorities including the digital exchange of data and knowledge among stakeholders, the creation of digital market linkages in the agricultural value chain, the provision of digital financial services, the digitalization of agricultural supply chain management, macro agricultural intelligence and data analytics, and the digital empowerment of young people and women in agriculture. A detailed action plan for 2021–2023 complements the strategy, outlining specific activities that include capacity development, education, promotional campaigns, the establishment of technical facilities, and collaboration with various stakeholders. Overall, the comprehensive strategy aims to harness digitalization to enhance agricultural processes, improve market access and empower diverse stakeholders within the agricultural sector.

The action plan outlines a set of technologies and digital solutions for the advancement of Armenia's digital agriculture, including a centralized intelligence portal for the dissemination of information on enhanced and innovative production that encompasses organic, conservative and traditional farming. The plan proposes tools for the dissemination of market-related information, early warning systems for weather and pest/disease forecasts, and a repository for financial resources and legal information related to agriculture. The integral components of the strategy include E-learning platforms, digitized agricultural advisory content and a one-stop-shop for agricultural market information. The plan further envisions the creation of a digital food safety and phytosanitary control system, an integrated platform for financial services, and the utilization of data collection and analytics tools for the assessment of agricultural risks. The integration of digital produce certification tracking utilizing QR codes and blockchain technologies, and the development of predictive analytics based on big data recognition, image processing, machine learning and artificial intelligence methodologies are also part of the suggested actions.
