Doradnyk
Information system for agricultural news and farm advisory
Description
Doradnyk was an information system that operated as an online app and mobile application designed to connect knowledge and stakeholders in the agriculture and rural development sectors, including farmers, advisors and local authorities. Working in integration with its companion website, the information system provided access to standardized information about individual consultants and a catalogue of consultancy services related to various agricultural topics. The app featured a geolocation service that allowed users to find and connect with farmers, advisors and service providers in their locations. Doradnyk also hosted a public forum for discussions and offerred news updates categorized by topic and region. The app also provided access to a library of business development resources.
Technology
A mobile version of Doradnyk was available for Android devices. Articles and other information service providers could be accessed from the online app, while other services were available only through the mobile app. Data was protected under the law of Ukraine “On the Protection of Personal Data” dated June 1, 2010 No. 2297-VI.
Target
The main users of Doradnyk were farmers, agricultural consultants and other agricultural stakeholders in Ukraine and the European Union. The app used the Ukrainian language while the online app could be accessed in both Ukrainian and English.
Business model
The app was free to download and use. The online platform was created under the United Nations Recovery and Peacebuilding Programme (RPP), and was funded by the European Union and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Impact
Doradnyk is no longer active. The initiative's goal was to serve as a bridge between agricultural consultants in Ukraine and the European Union, and to reduce the information gap in the agriculture sector through the creation of a centralized platform for resources, training, networking and information sharing.
