EU FarmBook

Digital knowledge platform for agriculture and forestry

Description

EU-FarmBook is a digital knowledge platform developed under the Horizon Europe programme to collect, structure and disseminate practice-oriented knowledge from agricultural and forestry research and innovation projects. The platform aims to improve access to validated solutions, best practices and training materials for farmers, foresters, advisors and other AKIS actors across the European Union, supporting knowledge exchange and innovation uptake.

Technology

  • Cloud
  • Desktop/web-based application
  • Website

The platform operates as a cloud-based web application that aggregates and organizes digital knowledge resources produced by EU, national and regional projects. It provides a searchable interface with standardized metadata to ensure that content is findable, accessible and reusable by different user groups.

Target

  • Academia and research institutions
  • Agriculture cooperatives
  • Farm advisors
  • Large size farms
  • Medium size farms
  • Public sector
  • Rural communities
  • Smallholder farmers

EU FarmBook targets farmers, foresters, advisors, researchers, educators, rural communities, and policy makers across the European Union. EU FarmBook features over 5 000 knowledge objects contributed from more than 250 Horizon projects, 61 thematic networks, and 919 operational groups.

Business model

  • Fully free

EU FarmBook operates as a fully free platform, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme. All resources are accessible without charge, and the platform is maintained by a consortium of research and advisory organizations.
