National Strategy for Sustainable Development to 2040

National long-term policy setting sustainability goals and priorities

Description

The National Strategy for Sustainable Development of the Republic of Belarus to 2040 (NSUR-2040) is a long-term policy framework that outlines Belarus's sustainable development priorities across economic, social, and environmental dimensions. It includes a major pillar on digital transformation and explicitly targets building “Digital Agriculture” progressing toward “Smart Agriculture”, supported by an integrated real-time digital platform for managing the agro-industrial complex (AIC).

Technology

  • Artificial intelligence (AI)
  • Cloud
  • Internet of things (IoT)
  • Drone
  • Robotics

The strategy promotes economy-wide rollout of ICT with AI, cloud, IoT, big data and next-gen connectivity (including 5G) as enabling infrastructure. For agriculture it highlights precision and decision technologies: digital planning tools, variable-rate fertilization, pest/disease monitoring and early detection, soil mapping using satellite monitoring and UAVs, GIS and analytics, sensor-equipped machinery, robotics, controlled-environment production, plus e-commerce platforms and mobile apps for food trade and consumers.

Target

  • Public sector
  • Private sector
  • Civil society organizations

NSUR-2040 targets national and local government bodies coordinating implementation and monitoring, and it also targets agribusinesses, farms, tech providers, researchers, and advisory services that will adopt/operate digital tools and platforms across the AIC, including digital trade channels for buyers.

Business model

Financing is not specified withing the policy document.
