Register of Environmental Permits
National online map of integrated environmental permits
Description
Register of Environmental Permits is a national online register and interactive map that publishes information on integrated environmental permits for industrial and other installations in North Macedonia. The platform provides a single access point where authorities, operators and the public can see the location, type and status of ecological permits, including those for large livestock farms, agro-processing plants and other agrifood-related installations.
Technology
Register of Environmental Permits is implemented as a web-based application that combines a structured database of integrated permits with an interactive GIS map of installations across the country. The platform organizes official Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) permit information in a searchable interface where users can filter installations and view key attributes such as permit type, operator, location and activity, and visualizes these facilities on a national map. The solution is designed to interoperate with other government portals and open data services, such as the national open data portal.
Target
Register of Environmental Permits targets national and local public authorities responsible for environmental permits, and private-sector operators who apply for and manage permit obligations. The public platform can also be used by civil society, researchers and other stakeholders to access transparent information on permitted installations and their environmental conditions.
Business model
Register of Environmental Permits is a fully free public e-government service financed through national public budgets and European Union co-funding within broader green digitalization and environmental governance projects.
Impact
Register of Environmental Permits aims to improve transparency and enforcement of environmental permits for industrial and agrifood installations. The solution intends to support environmental inspectorates and public authorities in planning inspections and monitoring compliance, and to help protect water, soil and air quality, contributing to more sustainable agricultural production.
