RIMpro

Decision support system for pest and disease management for fruit and grape production

Description

RIMpro is a digital decision support system designed to support pest and disease management in fruit orchards and vineyards. The solution integrates real-time weather data with scientifically validated biological models to calculate infection and development risks for key pests and diseases. It supports growers and advisors in timing crop protection measures and applying integrated pest management practices.

Technology

  • Desktop/web-based application
  • Cloud

RIMpro operates as a cloud-based platform that processes weather data from connected or virtual weather stations. The system runs simulation models that calculate pest and disease risk indicators based on climatic and biological parameters. Outputs are delivered through a web interface and mobile applications, allowing users to monitor risk levels throughout the growing season.

Target

  • Agriculture cooperatives
  • Large size farms
  • Medium size farms
  • Smallholder farmers
  • Farm advisors
  • Public sector
  • Private sector

The solution is used by fruit and grape growers and agricultural advisors managing orchards and vineyards. Users connect weather stations to monitor local conditions and apply the model outputs to guide crop protection decisions

Business model

  • Donor support

RIMpro operates on a fee-for-service basis with annual licence fees for access to the platform and its models. According to the official pricing page, individual grower accounts start from €250 per year; consultancy accounts (minimum 10 stations) start from €1850 per year; additional services such as access via distributor networks are available on request. Pricing covers platform access with all models, online technical support and related services

Impact

RIMpro has been used for more than 25 years in fruit and grape production contexts and is implemented in over 40 countries worldwide. By providing weather-based risk assessments for pests and diseases, the platform aims to supportevidence-based decision making that can contribute to more targeted crop protection, potentially reducing unnecessary pesticide applications.
