SMS

Precision farming software

Description

SMS is a precision farming software that turns field data into year-round decisions. The solution supports planting, application, harvest and field stewardship with mapping, reports and charts; creates prescriptions and guidance lines; analyzes multi-year yield trends; and manages soil sampling, tile plans and crop plans.

Technology

  • Big data
  • Cloud
  • Desktop/web-based application
  • GIS
  • GPS
  • Mobile app
  • Remote sensing
  • Sensor

SMS is a Windows-based, modular farm mapping and analysis tool, that can be used as a desktop application, or paired with AgFiniti for cloud-based data sharing and SMS Mobile for in-field use. The software connects to multi-brand displays and controllers such as John Deere Generation 4 CommandCenter and Case IH/New Holland, and brings data from GPS/GNSS, machine logs, soil-sampling results, GIS layers and remote sensing then stores it in organized projects. Users can import common agricultural data formats and turn data into practical outputs such as terrain and NDVI maps, management zones and variable-rate prescriptions, as well as generate reports and printable field booklets.

Target

  • Agriculture cooperatives
  • Farm advisors
  • Large size farms
  • Medium size farms

SMS mainly serves medium and large farms, cooperatives and farm advisors who manage and analyze field data across multiple seasons.

Business model

  • Fee for service
  • One time purchase

For SMS a free trial is available. Revenue comes from perpetual licenses and annual maintenance, paid add-on modules, AgFiniti cloud subscriptions. Two packages are available (as of January 2026): SMS Basic USD 995 one-time purchase, plus maintenance USD 260 per year; SMS Advanced USD 2995 one-time purchase, plus maintenance USD 775 per year. Step-by-step video tutorials are available to help users set up and use each feature. Modules such as Booklet Printing, Water Management, Plot Prescription, Field Trial, and AgFiniti are extra, and pricing is quote-based.

Impact

SMS aims to support more consistent, data-driven decisions by turning datasets into actionable maps, prescriptions, and multi-year yield insights, helping optimize the timing and placement of inputs. The solution strengthens field stewardship through structured workflows and supports planning and documentation, as well as reduce manual paperwork and improve coordination between farms, advisors and cooperatives, with optional connectivity enabling faster data sharing and decision cycles
