Technology
CowManager is a complete plug-and-play system that includes ear sensors, a router and software. The sensor device fits around the official animal identification RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags and can be placed in the cow’s ear without the need to recharge batteries or change collars. The data transmitted by the sensors is collected by routers that are installed inside or outside. When no power connection is available, e.g. in feed lots or pastures, CowManager can operate from solar panels, allowing the 24/7 monitoring of the herd. A coordinating device connected to the herder’s computer ensures data flow, while the producer can access the data from a mobile app. The system allows the herder to share selected data with key parties, such as veterinarians and researchers.
