Cooperative-led online marketplace supporting women and Syrian refugees

Description

Hepyerinden.coop is an online marketplace designed within the scope of the Syrian Refugee Resilience Plan targeting the empowerment of women-led cooperatives in rural Türkiye by connecting them directly with consumers. Launched with support from the FAO and the European Union, the project promotes economic independence by allowing local cooperatives to market and sell handmade and agricultural products, such as preserves, dried fruit and cosmetics, across the country. The platform enhances the visibility of women producers, reduces intermediaries, and supports sustainable development by emphasizing local production and community resilience.

Hepyerinden.coop operates as an e-commerce platform and is integrated with different e-payment systems (Iyzico, MasterCard, Visa, Troy, etc.), offering also transportation services for food deliveries and a 30-day warranty for the return of products. Besides facilitating business transactions, the platform provides a digital, unified brand identity that supports visibility and market access.

The online marketplace targets agricultural cooperatives and local/regional food consumers, and is already working with 13 cooperatives in 10 provinces in Türkiye.

Hepyerinden.coop was developed with co-funding from FAO and the European Union. Sellers and buyers can complete their business transactions free of charge, without with no commission fees.

Impact

The online marketplace connects cooperatives and their member producers, facilitating the sale of local agricultural and artisanal products directly to consumers. It supports digital marketing by incorporating tools for branding, quality standardization and market expansion with particular focus on sustainable agriculture and community resilience. The digital infrastructure aids cooperatives in navigating modern trade dynamics, leveraging e-commerce to reach broader audiences while promoting Syrian refugees and the economic independence of women​.
