Application for monitoring of meteorological changes
Description
The Meteo Dashboard is an online web-based application supporting the monitoring of meteorological changes in four villages in Kyrgyzstan, namely Baytik, Kok-Moinok, Kyz-Kuyo and Tatyr. It allows users to monitor various meteorological parameters, including air humidity, air temperature, wind direction, solar irradiation, atmospheric pressure, precipitation and wind speed through a free subscription-based alert system that provides email and slack notification alerts.
Technology
A meteorological station has been established in each of the Baytik, Kok-Moinok, Kyz-Kuyo and Tatyr villages, which record weather data every 30 minutes that are then sent to the online platform. The system periodically queries data sources and evaluates the conditions defined in the alert rule. If any condition is breached, an alert instance is launched.
Target
The main users of the Meteo Dashboard are local citizens and smallholder farmers in the villages of Baytik, Kok-Moinok, Kyz-Kuyo, and Tatyr. The platform uses the English and Russian languages
Business model
The online platform is free to use, and anyone can access it to monitor the weather parameters.
Impact
The Meteo Dashboard can produce valuable datasets that can be used for the analysis and monitoring of microclimates by farm advisors, public authorities and local farmers, and for the management of risks and ordinary decision-making processes.
