Planet relies on a fleet of Earth observation satellites, including Dove, SkySat and RapidEye constellations, which capture daily imagery at various resolutions. The data are processed through cloud-based infrastructure and made available via web-based platforms and APIs. The technology integrates remote sensing, GIS and machine learning tools to analyze vegetation indices, detect crop stress, and provide near real-time agricultural monitoring.

Planet’s monitoring capacity covers over 190 countries, with more than 1 700 satellites launched to date, enabling daily revisits of agricultural land. The data have been applied in projects on crop yield forecasting, deforestation monitoring and disaster response, contributing to evidence-based decision-making for food and agriculture stakeholders.
