Strategies and tools to advance smart agricultural technology adoption

Description

Smart AgriTech Connect (SATECON) is a capacity building project that strengthens digital agriculture knowledge across Western Balkan universities. Through the SATECON project, partners develop strategies and tools that improve the adoption of smart agricultural technologies, including drones, sensors, automation, data analytics, and robotic systems. The team focuses project activities on six key agricultural sectors: viticulture, fruit growing, olive cultivation, livestock farming, greenhouse production, and mariculture.

The project introduces learning modules and demonstrations that include IoT based environmental monitoring sensor systems remote sensing platforms cloud-based data tools and mobile applications that support decision making in agriculture. Demonstrations also incorporate drone‑based monitoring and imaging to support precision agriculture practices. These technologies are integrated into training courses and demonstration activities to help users understand the role of digital systems in modern farm management.

Impact

SATECON aims to strengthen digital skills in the region, improves the quality of agricultural education, and increases awareness of smart farming technologies among producers. The project supports workforce development for modern agriculture and enhances cooperation between universities and industry partners.
