Description
SroPasture was an early warning system designed for pasture users, providing crucial meteorological information and pasture-related data to help mitigate the impacts of hazardous weather conditions and adapt to changing climate patterns. The platform featured a map that offered a wealth of geospatial data, including the locations of 13 remote pastures, details about infrastructure such as cattle runs, avalanche hazard forecasts, and settlement information.
Technology
SroPasture was a web-based platform that provided meteorological information and early warnings. It collected data from satellites, agrometeorological stations of Kyrgyzhydromet, and other observations. This data was sent to Kyrgyzhydromet's server for processing and was then transferred to the server of the Department of Pastures, from which it was published on the SroPasture platform.
Target
The main users of the platform were pasture committees, district departments of agrarian development, village administration who monitored weather and pasture information.
Business model
The use of SroPasture was free of charge.
Impact
SroPasture is no longer, but the platform was committed to enhance decision-making for pasture users, such as herders and farmers, which provided timely and accurate meteorological information. The platform also sought to support better pasture management by offering geospatial data and early warnings, which allowed proactive measures to protect livestock and infrastructure. Additionally, SroPasture also aimed to aid climate adaptation which helped communities and agricultural professionals anticipate and respond to changing weather patterns.
