Agriculture 4.0 – Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for future Agriculture is an Erasmus+ project that strengthens digital skills and competences in agriculture through Vocational Education and Training (VET). Agriculture 4.0 develops and pilots a Farming 4.0 curriculum, an e-collaboration platform and practical handbooks that introduce key ICT tools for farm management and advisory services.

Agriculture 4.0 is structured around several core components: a focused needs analysis, an e-collaboration platform, a “Farming 4.0” curriculum, guidelines for integrating the curriculum into national VET programmes and a digital handbook for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills in agriculture. Agriculture 4.0 develops a web-based e-collaboration platform where users can access online modules, learning materials, and assignments. Training modules introduce key digital technologies for agriculture, including farm management and record-keeping software, online information and advisory systems, and basic tools for collecting, processing and analyzing farm data.

Agriculture 4.0 primarily targets high school students and farmers as end users who need practical ICT skills. Agriculture 4.0 also targets advisors in national extension agencies and teachers who act as mediators in transferring digital knowledge. The project engages policy makers in ministries of agriculture and education, and VET training centres.

Agriculture 4.0 is financed through an Erasmus+ Strategic Partnerships grant with a total amount of EUR 28 811 and operates as a fully free public-good project.

ImpactThe observed or intended effects of the initiative.

Agriculture 4.0 aims to improve the digital skills of young farmers, advisors and teachers and to increase the capacity of VET systems to address agriculture-related ICT needs. Within the project, 50 students, 30 advisors and 15 teachers are directly involved in testing the Farming 4.0 curriculum and materials, while multiplier events in each partner country are designed to reach a wider group of VET institutions, extension services and policy makers and to support broader uptake of digital agriculture training.
