Description
Agrisound’s Polly is an insect monitoring solution designed to detect pollinator activity in real time using bioacoustic technology. The sensors attract a wide range of insects through their size, shape and colour and capture sound signatures to identify levels of pollinator presence.
Technology
The technology combines bioacoustics sensing IoT enabled sound collection modules, cellular data transmission cloud storage and a digital interface for visualising insect activity. The platform uses artificial intelligence and big data analytics to interpret acoustic signals and detect pollinator movements. Users can generate customised and automatized reports and integrate results into farm management for environmental planning or biodiversity improvement strategies. Data is transmitted through cellular networks into a secure digital platform where users can observe pattern locations with low activity and opportunities for improving pollinator habitats. Meanwhile, users can view data in near real-time on their interface, highlighting areas of low pollinator activity, and suggesting simple interventions to increase numbers.

The solution is designed for farmers, growers, land managers, corporations, educators, conservation groups, and research institutions working to monitor pollinator health and biodiversity conditions.
Business model
Polly offers subscription-based access to the digital platform and fee for service packages for sensor deployment reporting and technical support. The company also collaborates with commercial partners and growers to scale adoption across agricultural landscapes.
Impact
The technology aims to strengthen biodiversity monitoring by providing accurate and continuous data on pollinator activity as well as supporting evidence-based actions to restore ecosystems improve crop pollination and reduce dependence on managed pollinator species. Agrisound’s Polly™ devices have already been rolled out across 18 additional sites in the UK as of January 2026, following successful trials. These devices now cover 120 habitats across more than 1 000 hectares, representing 8 percent of all British growers.
