E-commerce for agricultural inputs and services

Description

AgroZamin is an e-commerce e-commerce that connects sellers and buyers of agricultural inputs in Uzbekistan. The e-commerce features a wide range of products, including agrochemicals, seeds, plant protection products, machinery equipment, among others. The e-commerce also facilitates the trade of services, such as brokerage operations, while also allowing users to identify potential business partners in the EU Member States, diagnoses of agricultural equipment, etc. Farmers can also sell their produce directly through the e-commerce without paying additional fees.

Technology

  • E-commerce/online marketplace

AgroZamin can be accessed via a web browser, and features a search function with filters to aid in the identification and purchase of products, as well as a news section. Purchases of products promoted on the website require the user to register with the site using an Uzbek phone number.

Target

  • Smallholder farmers
  • Medium size farms
  • Large size farms
  • Private sector
  • Food consumers

Farmers can use AgroZamin to purchase agrochemicals, seeds, plant protection products, etc., while consumers can access the site to purchase fresh, locally grown produce, thus supporting the smallholder farmers in their community. Finally, input suppliers can use the e-commerce to promote and sell their products.

Business model

  • Fully free

The e-commerce is free to use by farmers.

Impact

AgroZamin can help farmers, especially smallholders, in accessing new markets that were previously out of their reach due to geographical or logistical barriers. The site also provides farmers and buyers with real-time information about the price, availability and quality of products, leading to more efficient and transparent transactions. AgroZamin can reduce the transaction costs associated with traditional agricultural trading, such as those related to transport and storage, resulting in higher profits for farmers and lower prices for buyers.
