Electronic system for the submission of novel food applications in accordance with EU legislation
Description
The e-Submission food chain platform is an electronic submission system through which applicants can submit applications online for the registration of novel and traditional foods within the European Union and non-EU countries. Novel and traditional foods are regulated within the European Union by Regulation (EU) 2015/2283, and the platform was established following the adoption of Regulation (EU) 2019/1381 on the transparency and sustainability of EU risk assessments in the food chain. Applicants can use the e-Submission food chain platform to follow up their applications, from submission to outcome.
Technology
The e-Submission food chain platform is a web-based application that connects novel food applicants, the European Commission and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) along a step-by-step novel food authorization workflow. The platform guides applicants from the initial submission, through the validity checks, risk assessment and risk management stages up until the final outcome.
